OCP Halloween Party/Mom's Day In

Today was Kendyl's Halloween party at school. The teacher decided that in addition to celebrating Halloween that we would do the annual Mom's Day In at the same time. Her philosophy was that it didn't make sense to wait until May when we could be getting to know each other better while our kids still have most of the school year ahead of them. Not a bad idea-and I like that she combined two days into one!

The party started with the kids doing a costume parade through the school and then ending up in the gym where the mommys were waiting. Check out these cuties! We had a few superheroes, some princesses, a unicorn, a cat, and an adorable witch;-)

Next we headed to the Chapel where the kids put on a special musical show for us. They sang Two Little Apples, I'm a nut, My God is an Awesome God, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Five Little Pumpkins, and ended with the class favorite; Alligator Stew. Each song had motions to go with it and the kids did a great job. It's funny that they get so shy when they have an audience. We've heard them practicing at pickup and they scream their heads off, but they need lots of encouragement to sing louder as soon as they know we are watching!

Then it was back to the room for crafts and snack. Even Lauryl got in on the action and made a little friend (Sophia). Kendyl enjoyed showing her little sis the ropes and helping her decorate their Halloween cookies for snack.

The day ended with some time outside playing Farmer and the Dell and showing off on the playground. Lauryl found her buddy Maura and got right in the mix, while Kendyl took time out for a photo op with her buddy Sara!

Kendyl and Lauryl both asked to go to bed right after lunch (they were still in their chairs at the table!), so I think they had a GREAT morning. They better rest up too b/c we have a strenuous night of trick-or-treating ahead of us!!!
